About these terms

Indie Film Stream is the film streaming service at indiefilmstream.com, run by Deverett Media Group (“we”, “us”). These terms apply when you create an account, pay for a film or a subscription, or watch on the site. By doing any of those, you agree to them.

How we handle your information is described on our privacy page, and when you can have your money back is described on rentals and refunds. Both are part of these terms.

Your account

You sign in with your email address. Each time, we email you a link that signs you in; there is no password. Your account is created the first time you sign in.

  • Use an email address that is yours and that you can read. Anyone who can open your email can sign in to your account, so keep your email secure.
  • Your account is for you and the people you live with. Do not share sign-in links or sell access to your account.
  • Up to two streams can play at the same time on one account. You can stop a stream from your account page.

Renting, buying and pre-ordering

Each film shows what is on offer for it. Depending on the film, you can:

  • Rent it. You have 30 days from paying to press play, or 30 days from release day if you rent a film before it comes out. Once you start watching, you have 48 hours to finish, or until the 30 days run out if that comes sooner. You can watch as often as you like within that time.
  • Buy it. There is no time limit. The film stays on your account to watch whenever you like, as long as we have the right to show it in your country.
  • Pre-order it. You pay before the film is released. It unlocks on your account automatically on release day, and we email you when it does. You cannot watch it before then.
  • Get a package. Some films are sold together as a package, which gives you every film in it.

Subscriptions

A subscription lets you watch every film on the site while it is active, including new films as they are released. It renews automatically every month or every year, depending on the plan you chose, at the price shown when you subscribed, and we charge your card at each renewal until you cancel.

You can cancel any time from your account page: press Manage billing, which opens a secure page run by Stripe, our payment provider. After you cancel, you keep watching until the end of the period you have already paid for, and you are not charged again. If a renewal payment cannot be taken, your subscription, and the access that comes with it, may end.

If you moved to this site from our previous one with a subscription that was already paid for, you can watch here until the date it was paid up to. A subscription you start here before that date is not charged until then.

Prices and payment

Prices are shown on the site before you pay, in the currency shown. If tax applies, checkout shows it before you pay. Payments are taken by Stripe; your card details go to Stripe and never reach our site. We email you a confirmation when you rent, buy or pre-order a film, or start a subscription. Invoices for each subscription renewal are under Manage billing on your account page.

If you dispute a payment with your bank, the access that payment bought ends. If we refund a payment in full, the access it bought ends too. If something is wrong with a payment, please write to us first: it is usually the quickest way to put it right.

Where and for how long films are available

Films you rent, buy or pre-order, and films included in a subscription, are available to you as long as we have the right to show them in your country. The rights to some films cover only certain countries. We check the country your internet connection comes from when you open a film, press play or pay, and a film may not be available, or may not be offered for sale, where you are. We do not store your country.

The films on the site change over time as new ones arrive and rights agreements change. If we take a film off the site, anyone who rented, bought or pre-ordered it can still watch it from their account page, while we have the right to show it; it is no longer included in a subscription.

Using the films

The films are for your own personal viewing. Please do not:

  • copy, record, download or capture a film, or show it to a paying audience or in public;
  • share, re-stream or upload a film anywhere else;
  • try to get around the way the site protects its films, or get into parts of the site or other people's accounts that are not yours.

We may stop access for an account that does any of these things.

Refunds

When we refund a rental, a purchase or a pre-order, and how to ask, is set out on rentals and refunds. Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time; the current period is not refunded.

Closing an account

You can close your account at any time from your account page. Closing it ends any subscription and all your access, including films you bought, and cannot be undone. What we keep afterwards is described on our privacy page.

The service and these terms

We work to keep the site running well, but like any website it can sometimes be unavailable, for maintenance or because of a problem with one of the services it relies on.

We may change these terms. When we do, we will publish the new version here and change the date at the top.
